What happens if I can no longer check in?+
Exactly what you'll purchase IWK for. It will distribute all your information, files, images, and videos to your trusted recipients. If you know you won't be able to check in, you can pause the service until you can. The risk is that if you check out while the service is paused, your information will not be distributed.
Can anyone at IWK read my files?+
No. Your files are encrypted and there is zero staff access. No one at IWK can open, read, or hand over your information — by design. All IWK knows is the amount of data you have. We don't have a file count or even access to your file names.
Who receives my information?+
Only the people you choose — up to 10 — and only them. You stay in control of the list at all times, and can change it anytime by logging in and selecting Trusted Recipients.
How is my information protected?+
Your files are sealed with AES-256 encryption and RSA-4096 key protection, then split across separate secure U.S. locations. In simple terms: AES-256 is military-grade encryption and, to date, has never been broken. It would take every computer on Earth over 1 billion years to decrypt and read your files. And keep in mind, your files are split across multiple locations — so only you and your Trusted Recipients will ever see your documents.
What if I forget my password?+
There are two passwords: one to log in, which lets you make configuration changes, and an optional one to check in. They can be the same or different — different is recommended. If you forget your login password, you cannot make any changes to your configuration, but IWK will keep sending you check-in messages so you can still check in. If you lose your check-in password but still have your login password, you can change your check-in password or remove it completely. If both are lost, the IWK system will release your information. For your security there is no company backdoor — we cannot reset your password.
What happens if I need more space?+
If your IWK edition doesn't provide enough storage space, we have other editions that offer more — up to 100 GB of storage for your data. Go to Pricing and select Compare the Editions.
Can I set this up for a parent or someone else?+
Yes. Many families start IWK Legacy for a parent. Sit down together, add the documents and letters that matter, and put yourself and your siblings on the list — then they simply check in on their own schedule. But don't forget about yourself. You need to protect your family and your parents as well, so you should create an account for yourself too.
Is it hard to use for an older person?+
No. If they're using IWK, they already have a digital life. Checking in is a quick, private process: you receive an email, click the link inside it, and enter your email address and password. That's all it takes to show you're still here.
What happens to my business if I'm suddenly gone?+
The logins, accounts and instructions that keep things running are delivered to whoever steps in — so the business doesn't stall.
Can this be subpoenaed or quietly handed over?+
No. There's no master key and no backdoor, and your information is split across separate locations — IWK can't open it or hand it over. It opens only for the people you named.
What is the press release option?+
In some cases, you don't have Trusted Recipients who are able to tell your truth — or the information you have is too dangerous to send to friends or family. So our solution is a press release. With this option, we help you prepare a press release that's sent to a selected number of media contacts. By sending your information to a wide net of professionals, your message and truth will be told.
